As a few years travel by, I tend to collect a lot of old gear and positions that I no longer need. Let it be outdated PC parts, instrument accessories, recording gear, clothing, camera gear and so forth. I usually end up giving it away to friends, family and finally Goodwill for whatever is left.

I decided to tally up everything (Goodwill-wise) so far that I have let go this year to see what my writeoffs look like thus far. I have given away 42 items to goodwill already. I never knew I had so much stuff I didn’t need. Given, I think I have gone though just about everything looking for such items…so I’m pretty much at a dead end now. An old wired phone, a not so old digital 5ghz wired phone set (I don’t have a hard-phone line)….an old digital camera, a printer…some old clothes that were never worn (yatta yatta). It all adds up quickly collecting space.

I handed off a good number of things to friends as well. I just mailed out a small pocket-size digital kodak camera to a friend. I noticed I haven’t used it in over 2 years. It was a nice camera, but my phone takes just as good images (if not better) so why not pass it on to someone who could use it. Two old 21″ TV’s, some Xbox games that I some how acquired but would never play. *poof*….gone. Freed up a lot of space.

Something interesting, I recently acquired a signed original art piece by one of the artists from “Adventure Time” (via a local comic/art convention) for someone. I paid $15 for it, it was very well sketched out and had no idea what I was going to do with it, as sadly I could no longer give it to them. I don’t watch the show myself. I tried giving it away but I didn’t know anyone who followed the show (no one wanted to claim it). I wound up bringing it up to someone who bought it off of me for $50. As to why they wanted it so badly (especially since the signature was personalized), couldn’t say. o_O….I may need to acquire some more of those art pieces the next time I run into that artist. It was an image of the dog from the show, dressed as batman in a nice action scene. Unique….

If everyone took the time to randomly go through one room a day and collect everything that had no need for….old PC gear, tech you haven’t used for years and have no need for now, clothing that no longer fits or never worn…an old bowling bowl……..imagine treasure smorgasbord that would be donated to Goodwill or anyone else who wanted it. Imagine the space you will suddenly find in your homes. Take those old drives you use as doorstops and offer them to friends. You never know…they may need that 80GB hard drive for an odd project. Old cellphones…your neighbor may be looking to give their kid a phone they don’t worry so much about getting trashed.

I have a family member I have been slowly helping out. They are quite the pack rat, so Goodwill has been gaining a lot of weight thanks to them. About 4 car loads so far. I’d say that’s quite the dent in decades of…..pack ratting. They have found areas in their house they forgot were even there.

…..just a random blabber post/point since I had no idea what to write about. I had a review drafted from a few weeks ago about some gaming apparel/stuff but I decided against publishing it. Just didn’t have the energy to finish it. More things to come though…eventually. As soon as I find my muse.

Until then….enjoy picking apart this…horribly….formatted….blog post…….after watching one of Weird Al’s new videos (quite possibly one of his best):

….and….this is where I realize I should have gone to bed as I need to get up in four and a half hours.

sigh

love the video…hate the grammar nazis who are probably gonna comment and

This is fantastic! But I’ve generally felt with the expression “Every dog
has its day”, I thought it *would* be spelled i-t-apostrophe-s because the
dog (noun) is having it’s (possessive) day; the day is owned by the dog, is
    it not?

IF YOU CAN’T WRITE, IN THE PROPER WAY, your going to fail at life.

The “raining on your wedding day” pic being presented as a coincidence is
only so if you already went into marriage expecting it to be gloomy.

Otherwise, it is reasonable to consider it irony – your wedding day should
signify happiness for the day and the days to follow.

I guess the fact that it’s labeled as a coincidence rather than irony
serves to reflect this generation’s view on marriage, though.

    Rather unfortunate.

He is so right about this, but there are people who will continue
    irregardless.

*You have the right to refrain from writing. Everything you write can and

Unless you’re Prince before he reinstated himself as Prince and was still

    Haha Love this.

But to be a huge grammar nerd…

    “Don’t ever say “to who.”

    1. With “whoever” (as the subject pronoun of an indirect object noun
    clause).
-Give this to whoever needs it.
    2.
Send it to John who handles those questions. (as the subject of an
    indirect object adjective clause)

What happened to his good music from back in the day?? I guess when you
have crappy songs the parodies are not great.

Maybe he should make his own song about weird things.
    Like this artist I found

    https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/i-like-cheese/id950349288?i=950349319

Maybe he should pick some older songs to mock 🙂

Weird Al Yankovic has NEVER been funny. His music and comedy is meant for
    12 year olds.

  16. Tanara Kuranov

At 0:37, that “Bachelor of Writing Good”, isn’t good an adjective? Writing
isn’t a noun, shouldn’t it be a “Bachelor of Writing Well” or another,
similar adverb? Not that I have perfect grammar, but this is a song all
about it. Then again, it’s also not actually part of the song. I’m being
    way too picky.

My favorite “grammer” on Youtube comments comes from “native english
speakers” who use “then” (as comparative) instead of “than”. Or use “their”
instead of “they’re” or “there” or any confusion thereof. Or say “your”
    instead of “you’re”.

It’s not their fault. In particular the US has one of the worst educational
    systems in the world.

I think the song is brilliant. And did anyone else notice “Weird Al”
actually comes up in the dictionary at 0:04 ? How did he pull that off?

I’m not sure why everyone gives prince crap, he had a perfectly legit
reason for changing his name. His name was owned and trademarked by warner
music group due to contracts he signed when he was less famous(and probably
didn’t know any better.) It really locked him down legally, and the only
way out of it was a new name, but he felt it was disrespectful to his
mother who gave him his birth name, to go by a different stage name like
some actors and musicians do, or to legally change his name. So he just
adopted a symbol as a name, and started referring to himself in public
material as the artist formerly known as prince, as a legal loophole
without having to take an actual different name.

There is no excuse for not knowing these basic English constructs. If you
don’t know them, then you are either still in elementary school or you
don’t have any respectable education. The grammar he points out in this
video is simply taught when you are in the first year of high school! When
you are 11 years old for crying out loud! Making mistakes is unforgivable.
I wish the world did not consist of idiots.

Yeah great song and everything, but grammar nazis are the ones who are
morons. I agree, that it is annoying when you can not even understand what
that person just typed[or you do, but how it is typed, it does not even
look like they tried to type it properly],but you have to remember,English
is not EVERYONE’S default language…. To get butt-hurt because you see
something is not properly typed, and go out of your way to correct the
comment, when you know damn right what they are saying, makes YOU look like
the moron….Because it is something so irrelevant to get mad over…When
the person who did it does not even give a fuck and probably wont even read
the reply…But NO i am not defending them,i personally hate it and against
it….I am in high-school and have an A in English so far…My teacher also
teaches us college words everyday at school… And by the way, my friend
played this song at school and everyone got so fucking annoyed, i kinda
    agree,this song IS annoying….

While I love this video and weird al, there’s been an unfortunate change in
a few major English dictionaries which makes part of this video false. The
definition of the word ‘literally’ has now actually been updated to include
the meaning that literally everyone has been using it for these days…
It’s true, I read it on the Internet:

  44. WalkerJC3

I understand how some Grammar Commies get pissed at spelling errors in
Facebook Status updates, Twitter Status Updates, or even YouTube Comments
like this one, but how could you get pissed at someone who’s using acronyms
and other shortcuts to cut down the time it takes to type something using
texts? Texts were created to make a quick way to contact somebody else
without having to talk where other people can hear you. Since they’re
supposed to be quick, it’s totally acceptable for somebody to make it
quicker. Instead of saying “I’ve got to go,” you can easily just say “GTG.”
    There’s a noticeable time difference.

  45. 2000 AD

Isn’t ‘every dog has it’s day’ correct? The dog has the day, so it would be
a possessive, right? The video says that it should be ‘its’, not ‘it’s’.
    Can anyone confirm?
